The Mediating Effects of Playfulness of the Play Therapist on the Relationships Between Self-efficacy and the Therapeutic Alliance

|
This study investigated the mediating effects of playfulness of the play therapist on the relationship between self-efficacy and the therapeutic alliance. relationship between self-efficacy, playfulness and the therapeutic alliance of play therapists. The subjects of this research exercise were 104 play therapists. Analysis of theses subjects was conducted by means of Pearson’s correlation, multiple regression, and the Baron and Kenny(1986) mediating effect analysis. The results were follows. First, the self-efficacy and playfulness of play therapists’ significantly affected theses therapeutic alliance. Second, the playfulness had mediating effects on the relationship between self-efficacy and therapeutic alliance. In conclusion, play therapist’s high self-efficacy and playfulness should be developed to improve therapeutic alliance with children. In addition, training programs for play therapists were suggested and recommendations for future research exercises were also discussed.
